Mobility Scholarship


The Missouri Business Leadership Network (MOBLN) has established the MOBLN Mobility Scholarship to support its mission to open doors and increase representation of people with disabilities in the workforce.  The MOBLN Mobility Scholarship is designed for undergraduate students with disabilities who reside in the Greater St. Louis Area to live, work and give back to their community.
 
All interested students must submit a completed MOBLN Mobility Scholarship application by March 15, 2012.  The MOBLN Mobility Scholarship committee will select the awardees who present an accurate overview of their life experience and achievements that best support the mission of MOBLN.   
(Please note: incomplete scholarship applications will be disqualified)



Scholarship for 2012-2013 School Year

MOBLN will award a $2,000 and a $1,000 scholarship.

The scholarship is targeted for;
  • College undergraduate program for Freshman to Senior year and receiving services thru the Disability Support Access Office (inclusive of 504 Plan)
  • High School Senior with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or 504 Plan
Scholarship Applications will be weighed based on the following areas:
  • Typed Essay
  • Academic G.P.A.
  • Extracurricular activities and/or community involvement
Scholarship funds will be made payable to the recipients school of choice, upon receipt of requested verification documents.  
Recipients will be notified by April 15, 2012 and will be invited to the MOBLN Award Luncheon in May 2012 (date, time, location pending). 


Selection Criteria:
There are a few considerations that are essential. The absence of these elements will disqualify your application or affect its evaluation. 

Scholarship will be awarded based on completeness of application, essays, and effort of the student.      

  • There are four areas of achievement in which we seek information about the applicant: academics, extracurricular activities (examples; art, athletics and community service). The successful application will have entries in at least three of the four areas.
  • Essays should be well written, organized, clear and accurate
  • Appropriate signatures are required
  • Information must be verifiable
  • Applicants must be a permanent resident of the following counties

Missouri Counties

Franklin County, Jefferson County, Lincoln County, St. Charles County, St. Louis City, St. Louis County, Warren County, Washington County

 

Illinois Counties

Bond County, Calhoun County, Clinton County, Jersey County, Madison County, Macoupin County, Monroe County, St. Clair County

Mobility Scholarship Application

High School Testing at UMSL

UMSL was awarded a “Keeping Kids First Grant” that allows them to offer free psychological testing for St. Louis County residents who are 19 years of age and under.  These services may be used for Post High School Testing in order to receive accommodations at the college setting.  The grant timeline begins Jan. 1, 2012 and will continue for one year and will serve a set number of clients.  THIS IS A FIRST COME FIRST-SERVED OFFER.  In addition, they will be providing services to include a variety of evaluation procedures such as: Vocational Assessment, ADHD Evaluation, Cognitive Assessment, etc., however, they will be careful not to duplicate tests already provided by the school districts.
